Book Review- How a Christian Should Live

I recently received a copy of the book How a Christian Should Live to review.  I got it for my kids to have an additional devotional to work on over the summer.  I hate to admit that we've been SOOO bad at staying on top of bible study this summer.  I mean really bad :(  But, I do want to tell you about this book.

It was not what I originally thought it was going to be.  It is a 12 week devotional on 1 Corinthians through Philemon, and while I did learn a couple of things while reading through it, I would say it is definitely geared more towards baby Christians, or people who are not in a regular Bible Study.  It is meant to be for Middle Schoolers through High Schoolers and I would say that is a pretty good fit for most kids, but I would venture to say even a young adult who has just come to the Lord or has little training would benefit from this book.

The book also comes with a CDROM with MP3s of dramatical readings from the books.  If you like to listen to books on CD you will probably like this too.  It isn't overly dramatic, but it doesn't put you to sleep either.

Each lesson has several sections, which I really like:  Get It - where the reading takes place and the history, or foundation of the reading is explained to you.  Define It- Where they take a term that may be unfamiliar to people who haven't been churched for years and break it down for you.  Grab It- where they relate it to something from a more modern time so you can understand how it relates to you now.  The Hold It section asks you where you need to reflect on what this lesson is teaching you about YOUR life.  Live It- How do you apply this now and actually live what you're reading?  Give It- how do you share this with the people around you.  There is also a journaling section and several word games in each chapter.

All in all I would recommend this book.
